Synopsis:

One morning, Uncle Vernon received a letter from the Weasleys that they would like to invite Harry Potter over to watch the Quidditch World Cup, and Harry was delighted to have heard from his friends at last. Uncle Vernon grudgingly agreed to let Harry go.

The next day, while they were at the World cup, the saw a small house elf, named Winky, nervously waiting for her master at the top box. After a short show from the respective mascots, the game began and had many nerve-racking moments where Ireland, by keeping the cool head and following planned strategies, claimed the victory.  Although Viktor Krum, the Bulgarian Seeker, managed to catch the Snitch.

The night after the game, a crowd of Death Eaters, followers of Voldemort who escaped punishment, tortured four Muggles by levitating them in the air. Harry, Hermione and Ron escaped by fleeing into the woods, where Harry discovered that his wand was missing. Moments later, someone fired the Dark Mark (the sign of Voldemort) using his or her wand. Winky the house-elf was found holding a wand at the scene of the crime. Mayhem occurs at the Ministry of Magic through the week.

Ron, Hermione and Harry took a taxi to reach platform 9 ¾ and boarded Hogwarts Express. When they reached Hogwarts School for witchcraft and wizardry, the sorting ceremony took place in the great hall, after the start of year feast. Albus Dumbledore explained to the students that there would be a competition taking place called the Triwizard Tournament and that a new teacher would teach Defence against the Dark arts named Mad-Eye-Moody.

Students under 17 years of age were not allowed to take part in this competition as it contained 3 deadly tasks that were extremely difficult to achieve. Many people put their names into a goblet of fire that would choose the champions for each school. These schools were Durmstrang Institute, Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and Hogwarts.

On Halloween night, the Goblet of Fire threw out the names of the champions who would compete in the Triwizard Tournament:  Cedric Diggory (Hogwarts Champion), Fleur Delacour (Beauxbatons Champion), and Viktor Krum (Durmstrang Champion). Everyone was very excited to hear this news, and the Hogwarts students were delighted that Cedric was chosen for Hogwarts. While everyone thought the excitement was over, the goblet hissed and spited, and threw out another name. The sheet read the name: HARRY POTTER. Everyone was startled at the fact that Harry put his name in the goblet, even though he was under the age limit! Harry confessed that he never put his name inside, but nobody believed him…

The Triwizard tournament held 3 difficult events: Fighting a dragon, swimming in the lake for 1 hour and entering a maze with monsters. During this time, Mad-Eye-Moody helped Harry while he was working his way through these petrifying tasks. Why?

Did Harry survive the tasks?  Who is Mad-Eye-Moody and why did he help Harry? What happened to Voldemort as the story unfolded? Who really put Harry’s name into the goblet? Dive into this awesome story to find out!

Why I like this book:

I really like this book because it has a lot of action. It shows us that, even when Harry was unexpectedly chosen to be a Hogwarts champion along with Cedric Diggory, he showed courage and determination not to be afraid when something turns up at the wrong moment. This book is one of the most amazing Harry Potter book series! The next book in this series is called: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Make sure to look out for my next book review as this will be the next one!
